Yoko Shimomura is one of my favourite composers. A very, very long time ago I discovered that no one owned yokoshimomura.com so I bought the domain and set up a website. The website was pretty bad (it was my early days of web design) and for years I had wanted to redo it, but the amount of research and writing involved to do it properly was too much, and I didn’t have the time.
Fast forward to 2026, where we now have A.I. tools like Claude that can help with a project like this.
So, this website was largely a learning experience and a series of experiments to see how much of the work I could offload to A.I.
By the end of this project, I had developed some excellent techniques to get Claude to complete all the research, do all the writing (in a way that requires minimal editing) and build all of that into the actual website pages after I did the overall design.
With all the experimentation I ended up going back and redoing large parts of the site multiple times during development. Because of that this project did take me much longer than I would have liked but I plan to take everything I’ve learned here to build more sites in the future, and I should be able to complete those much faster now.
